General-purpose humanoid with advanced dexterous hands, tactile sensing, and Carbon embodied AI.
Phoenix is a general-purpose humanoid robot developed by Sanctuary AI, a robotics company based in Vancouver, Canada. Built to perform human work across a wide range of industries, Phoenix combines advanced dexterity with embodied AI to operate in environments designed for people. Sanctuary AI’s long-term goal is to develop robots capable of performing thousands of real-world tasks using human-like manipulation and reasoning. The robot stands approximately 1.7 meters tall, weighs around 70 kilograms, and features highly dexterous hydraulic hands with approximately 20 degrees of freedom each. Integrated tactile sensors provide precise force feedback, allowing Phoenix to manipulate delicate objects with sensitivity approaching that of the human hand. The platform is designed to perform complex manual tasks that require fine motor control, precision, and adaptability. Phoenix is powered by Carbon, Sanctuary AI’s embodied intelligence platform, which combines large language models, reasoning, perception, and motion planning to translate natural language instructions into physical actions.
