About G1

G1 is a compact humanoid robot developed by Unitree Robotics, a Chinese robotics company based in Hangzhou known for its affordable quadruped and humanoid platforms. Standing approximately 1.27 meters tall and weighing around 35 kilograms, G1 is significantly smaller than a full-size adult humanoid while retaining a highly capable bipedal design for research, education, and lightweight commercial applications. Depending on the configuration, G1 offers between 23 and 43 degrees of freedom and can be equipped with optional three-finger dexterous hands for object manipulation. Its perception system supports LiDAR and depth cameras for navigation and environmental awareness, while higher-end developer editions integrate NVIDIA Jetson computing to run onboard AI models and custom robotics software. A defining feature of G1 is its affordability. With a starting price of approximately US$16,000, it is one of the lowest-cost commercially available humanoid robots, making advanced humanoid research accessible to universities, research institutions, and independent developers.
