Optimus Gen 3 is Tesla’s third-generation humanoid robot and the company’s first Optimus design intended for mass production. Tesla says the platform represents a major upgrade over Optimus 2.5 and incorporates its latest hand design, with the goal of improving manipulation, reliability, and manufacturability for real-world deployment. Tesla is preparing a dedicated production line and supply chain for Gen 3, with production planned to begin before the end of 2026 and an eventual target capacity of up to one million robots per year. The company continues to position Optimus as a general-purpose humanoid for repetitive, physically demanding, and eventually broader industrial and service tasks. Tesla has not yet publicly disclosed a full Gen 3 specification sheet, so dimensions, weight, degrees of freedom, payload, and battery specifications remain unconfirmed.
