Feather was founded in 2025 by Hoa Mai and Parsa Bakhtiari. Mai previously founded a humanoid robotics startup that was acquired by 1X Technologies, while Bakhtiari previously worked on Tesla’s Model 3 engineering program.
Rather than developing a proprietary robot foundation model, Feather sells an open hardware platform intended for developers and robotics AI companies. Its software stack supports Python and ROS 2, while the hardware can run models from companies including Skild AI, Physical Intelligence and Generalist.
The current Feather platform uses two seven-degree-of-freedom arms mounted on a vertically adjustable torso and an omnidirectional wheeled base. The company lists up to 10 hours of battery life with hot-swappable batteries, one-meter reach and configurable onboard compute.
Feather currently lists its base system at $29,990, with different arm, battery, compute and vision configurations available. Its online store lists a three-to-four-month lead time for another configuration of the platform.
The company previously raised a $7.6 million pre-seed round led by Gradient Ventures. SEED Innovations separately invested $1 million through a SAFE in May, capped at a $60 million valuation. At that point, public disclosures said Feather had delivered its first customer system.
Feather told TechCrunch it has spent the past year field-testing its systems and is now preparing a larger product launch. The $1 million-plus revenue figure and deployments disclosed today are company-reported; individual customers and unit volumes were not identified.
