BMW partnered with Figure AI in 2024 to deploy humanoid robots at its Spartanburg, South Carolina manufacturing plant, where Figure 02 robots have performed production tasks including chassis assembly and sheet metal handling. The collaboration has become one of the industry’s most prominent examples of humanoid robots operating on a live automotive production line, supporting the manufacture of tens of thousands of vehicles.
