EngineAI announced the launch of its Shenzhen Intelligent Manufacturing Base and the rollout of the first batch of T800 full-size humanoid robots, claiming 10,000-unit scalable delivery capability and a humanoid rolling off the line every 15 minutes.
EngineAI was founded in October 2023 by Zhao Tongyang, who had co-founded Shenzhen Pengxing Intelligent Research with XPeng Motors, building what became XPeng's robotics division. He took his IP and core team to establish EngineAI.
In October 2024, EngineAI unveiled the SE01 on CCTV's New Year's Gala. Standing 170 cm and 55 kg with 32 degrees of freedom, the SE01 stunned viewers with its human-like walking gait. The compact PM01 followed in December 2024.
Funding accelerated in 2025 with approximately 1 billion yuan ($139.3 million) across two rounds, with investors including JD.com, CATL Capital, Baidu Ventures, and HongShan. Total funding surpassed $166 million.
EngineAI continued expanding with the SA02 anime-inspired humanoid priced at $5,300 and the T-800 prototype. The emphasis on achieving the most natural humanoid gait has become its primary differentiator in China's crowded market.
