T-HR3 is a humanoid robot developed by Toyota, the Japanese automotive manufacturer, as a research platform for teleoperation, physical human-robot interaction, and remote assistance. Introduced in 2017 as the third generation of Toyota’s humanoid research program, T-HR3 was created to explore how people can safely control robots in environments that are hazardous, inaccessible, or physically demanding. The robot stands approximately 1.54 meters tall, weighs around 75 kilograms, and features 32 degrees of freedom with torque-controlled actuators throughout its body. It is equipped with two dexterous five-finger hands capable of manipulating objects while maintaining precise force control. T-HR3 is operated through Toyota’s Master Maneuvering System, a wearable control interface that mirrors the operator’s movements in real time. Force feedback technology transmits physical contact back to the operator, allowing them to feel the forces experienced by the robot during manipulation.
