Home humanoid with soft tendon-driven actuation, household assistance, and consumer-focused design.
NEO is a home humanoid robot developed by 1X Technologies, a robotics company founded in Norway with operations in the United States. Built specifically for domestic environments, NEO is designed to assist with everyday household tasks while prioritizing safe and natural interaction with people. The platform reflects 1X’s vision of bringing humanoid robots into homes through lightweight hardware and embodied AI. The robot weighs approximately 30 kilograms and uses a soft 3D lattice polymer exterior combined with a tendon-driven actuation system that provides compliant, human-friendly movement. Despite its lightweight construction, 1X states that NEO can lift up to 70 kilograms and carry payloads of approximately 25 kilograms. The robot is designed to perform tasks including folding laundry, tidying rooms, carrying household items, and other routine domestic activities. Privacy features such as user-defined no-go zones and automatic face blurring are included to support home use. NEO is powered by 1X’s embodied AI platform and is intended to learn household routines while adapting to individual users and living environments.
