About Calvin-40

Calvin-40 is the first industrial humanoid robot from Wandercraft, a French company that spent more than a decade building self-balancing medical exoskeletons before turning that expertise to the factory. Wandercraft says it assembled the robot in roughly 40 days by reusing exoskeleton components, and the name reflects that rapid build. Calvin-40 is deliberately headless: cameras and sensors sit low for a clear view of tools, parts, and surfaces, and its non-grasping hands use padded grippers rather than human-like fingers. Force sensors in the feet track its center of mass for reactive balance on uneven ground, and it is operated by voice. Wandercraft positions it for physically demanding assembly and logistics tasks, citing a set of generic use cases meant to cover a large share of industrial needs. The company developed and is industrializing Calvin-40 in partnership with Renault Group, which took a minority stake, and describes it as the first humanoid deployed in Europe for assembly-line production, with early use cases already running.
