Research humanoid with 32 DoF, torque-controlled actuation, and advanced whole-body control.
TALOS is a full-size humanoid robot developed by PAL Robotics, a robotics company based in Barcelona, Spain. Designed as a research and industrial development platform, TALOS provides advanced whole-body control, compliant manipulation, and dynamic locomotion for universities, research institutes, and industrial innovation programs. It has become one of Europe’s leading humanoid research platforms. The robot stands approximately 1.75 meters tall, weighs around 95 kilograms, and features 32 degrees of freedom distributed across its arms, legs, torso, neck, and grippers. High-torque brushless actuators with integrated torque sensors in nearly every joint enable precise force-controlled movement and compliant interaction with people and the environment. The platform is built on a high-speed EtherCAT architecture with control loops operating at up to 5 kHz, supporting dynamic balancing, whole-body motion, and manipulation on uneven terrain. Each arm can handle payloads of approximately 6 kilograms.
