The platform combines NVIDIA OpenShell, an open-source secure runtime, with Sentry, a reference system design providing an independent hardware monitoring layer.
OpenShell creates a boundary around an AI agent while it operates, tracing its actions and enforcing policies governing what the agent can access and execute. The software runs on NVIDIA Vera CPUs but can be extended to third-party compute platforms including Arm and Intel.
Sentry adds an independent monitoring system running on NVIDIA BlueField-4 DPUs. It is designed to continue observing agent behavior separately from the primary system running the AI model.
The architecture extends into physical AI. NVIDIA specifically named @Figure, Skild AI and Gecko Robotics among robotics companies working with OpenShell technologies. More than 100 organizations across AI, cybersecurity, infrastructure, research and robotics are participating in the broader initiative.
NVIDIA has also established an OpenShell Research team focused on long-running and multi-agent systems, adversarial testing, policy verification and robotics applications. The team plans to publish research, prototypes and benchmarks as development continues.
