Agility Robotics Welcomes Digit 5 With 50-Pound Payload and Cooperative Safety System

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, the next generation of its industrial humanoid robot, with redesigned legs, higher payload capacity, faster charging and a safety system built for operation alongside human workers without traditional physical barriers.

Digit 5 stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 284 pounds and can reach objects up to 7.2 feet high. Its maximum repeated payload has increased to 50 pounds, roughly 40% above the previous generation. The robot also introduces swappable grippers, allowing its end effectors to be changed for different industrial tasks.  

Agility says the robot can operate for approximately 90 minutes before charging and replenish its battery in about nine minutes, giving it a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio. The company is targeting more than 20 productive operating hours within a 24-hour period, including charging cycles.  

The safety architecture uses onboard sensors to detect nearby people and adjust Digit’s speed and movement in response. Agility is also the first launch partner for NVIDIA’s Halos for Robotics safety platform, with Digit 5 using NVIDIA IGX Thor compute and the Halos framework.  

The platform is built on operational data from the previous Digit generation, which Agility says has accumulated more than 65,000 hours in customer environments. Existing deployments include GXO, Schaeffler and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.  

Agility says it had secured more than $300 million in multi-year contracted Digit 5 orders as of May 2026. Its securities filings indicate that figure includes a three-year contract covering 1,000 robots with an undisclosed customer and is not recognized current-period revenue.  

Early access to Digit 5 is planned for the first half of 2027, with general availability expected by the end of 2027.
