The announcement came during the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin on October 19, where NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang met German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to discuss the country’s industrial AI ambitions. Agile Robots was among four German startups identified for investment, although NVIDIA has not disclosed the financial terms or confirmed when the transactions are expected to close.
Founded in Munich, Agile Robots develops intelligent robotic systems for manufacturing, logistics and healthcare. Its portfolio includes industrial robotic arms and Agile ONE, a humanoid designed for industrial applications. The company already works with NVIDIA, using its computing and simulation technologies to develop robotics foundation models and train intelligent machines. The planned investment would strengthen that relationship as Agile Robots continues developing its humanoid platform.
The investment announcement accompanied a broader agreement between NVIDIA and the German government to accelerate the development and adoption of Physical AI. Signed by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space, the Joint Declaration of Intent will support research into AI models capable of understanding and interacting with the physical world.
The collaboration will also build on NVIDIA’s existing relationship with Germany’s Industry 4.0 Platform, connecting AI researchers and technology developers with the country’s established manufacturing sector, including its extensive network of small and medium-sized industrial companies.
Siemens, another major NVIDIA partner, demonstrated how some of these technologies are already being applied in manufacturing. At its electronics factory in Erlangen, the companies presented AI-powered systems for production planning and virtual manufacturing preparation. According to Siemens, the technology can reduce engineering effort for new circuit-board assemblies by as much as 85%, while AI-assisted production planning could deliver cost savings of up to 20%.
For NVIDIA, the investment in Agile Robots forms part of a growing industrial AI business that connects its computing infrastructure with robotics, simulation and factory automation. Germany’s established manufacturing industry offers a substantial market for these technologies, particularly as companies look to introduce more adaptable robotic systems into existing production environments.
The financial details of NVIDIA’s planned investment remain undisclosed, while the government partnership has yet to establish specific model releases or development timelines.
