Ballie is a home companion robot developed by Samsung, the South Korean electronics company. First unveiled as a concept at CES 2020, Ballie has evolved into a commercially focused AI robot designed to assist with smart home management, entertainment, and everyday tasks. The compact spherical robot moves autonomously throughout the home using cameras, sensors, and onboard AI to recognize people, navigate rooms, and respond to voice commands. It integrates with Samsung SmartThings to control connected devices, monitor pets, provide reminders, and deliver personalized assistance. The latest version also incorporates a built-in projector that can display videos, information, workout guidance, or video calls on nearby walls and floors, while multimodal AI enables natural conversational interaction and contextual awareness. Unlike humanoid robots built for industrial labor, Ballie is designed as an intelligent household assistant that combines mobility, smart home control, and generative AI in a consumer-friendly form factor.
Designed to perform a wide range of tasks across multiple environments.
