About KAI

KAI is a full-size humanoid robot developed by Kinetix AI, a robotics startup based in Shenzhen, China. Designed for human-centered environments, the platform combines advanced dexterity, tactile perception, and embodied AI to support service, retail, and future home assistance applications. Kinetix AI is developing KAI as a highly expressive humanoid capable of safe and natural interaction with people. The robot stands approximately 1.73 meters tall, weighs around 70 kilograms, and features an exceptional 115 degrees of freedom across its body. Each hand provides 36 degrees of freedom through a combination of active and passive joints, enabling highly dexterous manipulation while improving compliance during physical contact. A synthetic tactile skin with approximately 18,000 sensing points detects forces as low as 0.1 newtons, providing detailed touch feedback for safe interaction. The platform is powered by a 1.7 kWh semi-solid-state battery and supports payloads of up to 20 kilograms.
