Aeon
Autonomous industrial humanoid for manipulation, inspection, and reality capture
About Aeon
Aeon is an industrial humanoid robot developed by Hexagon, the metrology and manufacturing-technology company headquartered in Sweden with a wider European base. It is designed for factory and warehouse work rather than research demonstrations, combining a bipedal, roughly human-scale body with Hexagon's expertise in precise measurement and reality capture. The robot fuses data from multiple sensors, including RGB, depth, and LiDAR, to understand its surroundings, and it runs its perception and planning on NVIDIA compute carried onboard. A self-swapping battery system is intended to let it keep working without long charging stops. Hexagon positions Aeon for tasks such as picking specific objects, machine tending, part inspection, and scanning industrial components to build accurate digital twins that feed into its cloud software. Intended sectors include automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics. Aeon was announced in 2025 and is in an early pilot phase, with industrial partners including Schaeffler and Pilatus evaluating it across manipulation, inspection, and reality-capture use cases at their facilities rather than in broad commercial release.
