Kawada Robotics pioneered industrial humanoid cobots for flexible manufacturing and human-robot collaboration.
Kawada Robotics is a Japanese robotics company specializing in industrial humanoid and collaborative robot systems. Spun out of Kawada Industries, founded in 1922, the company has played a significant role in Japan’s humanoid robotics ecosystem, including participation in the government’s Human Robot Project (HRP), which advanced foundational technologies for bipedal humanoids. The company is best known for NEXTAGE, a dual-arm humanoid collaborative robot designed for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing. Combining human-inspired kinematics with industrial reliability, NEXTAGE is deployed for assembly, inspection, and material handling tasks where flexibility and safe human collaboration are essential, positioning Kawada Robotics at the intersection of industrial automation and humanoid robotics.
