The company builds on more than 20 years of research, development, and prototyping of humanoid robots at IIT, including the acclaimed iCub platform. Generative Bionics is the largest academic spin-off in Europe.
Generative Bionics was founded in July 2024 by Daniele Pucci (CEO), Alessio Del Bue (Chief AI Officer), Marco Maggiali (CTO), and Andrea Pagnin (CBO), all formerly at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). Executive Chairman Davide Rota and Jeffrey Libshutz are also co-founders.
In late 2025, the company raised €70 million, one of the most significant deep-tech funding rounds in Europe. The round was led by the AI Fund of CDP Venture Capital, with participation from AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next, RoboIT, and Tether.
