The new capital was led by 8VC and extends the $400 million Series B Generalist announced in June at a $2 billion valuation. The extension brings the Series B to roughly $600 million.

An SEC Form D filed on August 24 shows Generalist had sold $198.2 million of a planned $208.2 million equity offering to 32 investors. The first sale took place on August 7.

Founded in 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers Pete Florence and Andy Zeng and former Boston Dynamics engineer Andrew Barry, Generalist is taking a software-first approach to robotics. Rather than building its own robot, the company develops embodied foundation models designed to operate across different robotic platforms and environments.

Its latest model, GEN-1.5, can learn a new physical task from as little as 12 seconds of demonstration data, according to the company. Generalist is targeting a future where the same underlying intelligence can power robots across factories, warehouses, laboratories, homes and other physical environments.

The financing comes only two months after Generalist’s previous raise and increases its reported valuation by 50%, from $2 billion to $3 billion.
