The 1.2-meter bipedal robot will cost $20,000 delivered. That is above the original $15,000 bill-of-materials estimate, with the final price accounting for international shipping, tariffs and bulk actuator procurement.
Menlo Research is coordinating actuator procurement through a structured group buy. Industry-grade actuators in this class can cost more than $30,000 when purchased individually at low volumes, with the group-buy model allowing participants to access pricing closer to factory levels.
Unlike a finished commercial humanoid, Asimov 1 arrives as a modular kit. Assembly is expected to require roughly 100 hours of mechanical torquing, wiring, flashing and calibration before the robot is operational.
Shipments will be organized into synchronized monthly batches. The cohort approach is intended to let developers work through assembly, software setup, troubleshooting and sim-to-real reinforcement learning deployment alongside others building the same platform.
The first production batch is expected to begin shipping in the coming days.
