About ORBIT Robotics
ORBIT Robotics is an ETH Zurich Focus Project developing humanoid robotic systems for space exploration and orbital operations. Led by multidisciplinary student teams, the initiative applies advanced robotics, mechatronics, and autonomous control to create humanoid platforms capable of supporting astronauts in space stations and other extraterrestrial environments. The project has produced prototypes including HELIOS and IKARUS, which explore technologies for whole-body mobility, manipulation, and autonomous operation in space. By combining humanoid robotics with aerospace engineering, ORBIT Robotics serves as a research platform for advancing robotic systems designed to operate in microgravity and future orbital missions.
