Nyobolt is a Cambridge University spinout that makes ultra-fast-charging, high-power batteries. It was co-founded by Prof. Dame Clare Grey and Dr Sai Shivareddy, who is the CEO, and it develops its own niobium-based anode materials along with the cells and power electronics. The company is headquartered in Cambridge, UK, does cell development in Bedford, Massachusetts, runs an anode pilot plant in Haverhill, UK, and has sales offices in Germany and Japan. In robotics, Nyobolt powers Symbotic's SymBot warehouse robots, which started using its batteries in June 2025, with full roll-out from September 2025. In October 2026, Agility Robotics chose Nyobolt as the battery partner for Digit 5. Agility says the pack runs 90 minutes and recharges in 9, a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio compared with Digit 4's 2:1, giving more than 20 hours of work in a 24-hour day. Early access is planned for H1 2027. Nyobolt also builds power systems for AI data centres that handle rack power spikes. Nyobolt has raised about $160M. Its rounds were a $10M Series A led by IQ Capital in 2021, a £50M Series B led by H.C. Starck in 2022, $30M in 2025, and a $60M Series C led by Symbotic in May 2026, which valued the company at about $1B.
