Dexterity is an American robotics company developing AI-powered robotic systems for logistics, warehousing, and industrial automation. Founded in 2017 by Stanford roboticist Samir Menon, the company combines advanced robotics with embodied AI to automate complex material handling tasks that traditionally require human judgment and dexterity. Its systems are designed to operate continuously in demanding warehouse and distribution environments. Rather than focusing on humanoid robots, Dexterity builds mobile manipulation platforms powered by proprietary physical AI software capable of picking, packing, palletizing, depalletizing, truck loading, and other dynamic logistics tasks. The company has become one of the leading providers of AI-driven warehouse robotics, serving major global logistics and retail operators while advancing robotic dexterity for real-world industrial deployment.

$95 million
Dexterity was founded in 2017 by Samir Menon (PhD Stanford) in Redwood City. His research focused on how the human brain coordinates the body, translated into mathematical programs controlling robots.
Early funding included a $56 million Series A in July 2020 led by Kleiner Perkins and a $140 million Series B in October 2021. The company deployed at its first Fortune 500 customer for autonomous truck loading.
Key customers include Kawasaki, FedEx, Sagawa Express, and GXO Logistics. The DexR system earned a 2024 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award. Operations expanded to Japan through Sagawa Express and Sumitomo.
In March 2025, Dexterity raised $95 million led by Lightspeed and Sumitomo, reaching $1.65 billion valuation. The company also announced Mech, an industrial superhumanoid robot.
