Devanthro is a German robotics company developing humanoid avatar robots for remote care, household assistance, and human-centered services. Rather than pursuing fully autonomous humanoids from the outset, the company combines teleoperation with AI-assisted autonomy, allowing people to remotely assist others through physically embodied robots while gradually increasing the level of autonomous capability. Its Robody platform enables caregivers, family members, and service providers to perform everyday tasks such as fetching objects, assisting with household activities, and interacting naturally with people from a remote location. By early 2024, Devanthro said Robody had entered private-home pilots, combining teleoperation, AI assistance, and remote presence for chores and companionship. The company positioned these deployments as proof that Robodies could be integrated into everyday care settings.
In May 2018, Devanthro was founded in Munich on the back of years of Roboy research and development. The team shifted from a student project into an R&D company focused on anthropomimetic robots and later care-oriented humanoid avatars.
In May 2023, Devanthro reframed its mission from tendon-driven humanoids for research toward care-focused humanoids for the home. That pivot became the foundation for the Robody Cares service model.
