PrimeBOT says it has built its 5,000th personal robot, reaching the production milestone roughly a month after putting its Q1 and T1 models on sale. The Shanghai-based consumer robotics brand, part of listed materials company Swancor Advanced Materials, announced the figure on October 25 as it expands manufacturing for robots intended for homes, education and personal use.
At an event marking the milestone, PrimeBOT co-president and head of central research Gao Quanzhong said the factory is now completing one robot every 2.5 minutes. Daily output has climbed from just over 10 units when production began to more than 200, according to the company. The 5,000 figure refers to robots coming off the production line, rather than a confirmed number of customer deliveries.
PrimeBOT began selling the Q1 and T1 on September 20, with both entry-level models priced at 19,999 yuan. The Q1 is a compact, 88-centimeter-tall bipedal humanoid built around whole-body force control and customizable interactions. Its Explorer edition provides software and hardware interfaces for developers. The T1 takes a different approach, using a transformable body that can switch between a two-legged humanoid configuration and a four-legged form. Both are aimed at consumer activities such as interactive learning, entertainment and photography rather than industrial work.
The company says it has expanded its assembly processes, introduced automated calibration and testing, and established a production-tracking system with suppliers to improve consistency as volumes rise. PrimeBOT has also described durability testing for wiring, joints and modules, although independent results have not been released.
The 5,000th unit, a T1, was handed over to a customer at the October 25 event. The company has begun delivering robots to early buyers, but has not disclosed how many of the 5,000 manufactured units have reached customers, how production is divided between the two models, or the volume of outstanding orders.
