The stacked backside-illuminated sensor uses 2.2-micron pixels and delivers more than 70 dB of high dynamic range. OMNIVISION says the OG05D can produce 146 frames per second in linear mode, 143% faster than its previous-generation sensors, while consuming 30% less power than its previous 5MP product.
Its dual-conversion-gain system supports 60 fps single-exposure HDR, intended to capture scenes containing bright and dark areas without the motion artifacts associated with combining multiple exposures. The sensor also supports a three-exposure HDR mode, RGB, monochrome and RGB-IR configurations, and on-chip RGB-IR remosaicing.
OMNIVISION’s Nyxel near-infrared technology provides claimed quantum efficiency above 55% at 850 nm and above 35% at 940 nm. The company is positioning those capabilities for navigation and object detection under changing factory, warehouse and outdoor lighting.
The OG05D uses a 1/2.5-inch optical format. OMNIVISION lists a package size of 6.6 mm by 5.3 mm and says the sensor is 30% smaller than the preceding generation. Sampling has started, with mass production scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The company is also demonstrating the component at the VISION trade show in Stuttgart from October 6–8.
