The rollout will begin with a 12-month trial in Canary Wharf, London, during October. Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton-on-Tees and Nottingham are expected to follow over the coming weeks and months, subject to local deployment arrangements.
The Canary Wharf service will initially cover participating restaurants including Patty&Bun, Signorelli and Beam. The companies plan to add merchants including Ole & Steen, Royal China and Din Tai Fung as the service area expands. Coco will establish local depots, charging infrastructure and operational support for the rollout.
Coco’s battery-electric robots travel at walking pace and use onboard cameras, sensors and edge-processed AI navigation. Supervising operators remain part of the operating system, while location-specific routing and speed policies are applied through the control software.
The partnership is Coco’s UK market entry and Deliveroo’s first deployment of autonomous delivery vehicles in the country. It builds on Coco’s existing work with DoorDash and Wolt in the United States and Helsinki. Coco says its fleet has completed more than 500,000 deliveries for over 4,500 restaurants and retailers; those figures are company-reported.
Coco will also share pavement-hazard data detected by its robots with BlindSquare, whose navigation application alerts blind and partially sighted pedestrians to obstacles.
