Agility Robotics is preparing to expand its Pittsburgh operations with a 50,000-square-foot facility that will bring software development, robot deployment and customer support under one roof. Announced on October 21, the project comes as the company adds four customers and reports more than $300 million in multi-year orders for its Digit 5 humanoid, subject to contractual milestones.
The new site will add roughly 35,000 square feet to Agility’s existing footprint in Pittsburgh. It is planned as the company’s software and AI center of excellence, where engineers will develop new Digit skills and test customer workflows in simulation and physical environments. Teams will also monitor deployed robots, manage installations and provide repair and maintenance services. Agility expects employees to begin using the facility before the end of 2026.
The company says Digit is already working with GXO, Schaeffler and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. Its four additional customers span automotive, consumer goods and agriculture, although not all have been named. Earlier this week, agricultural equipment manufacturer AGCO disclosed plans to pilot Digit at its Kansas factory in 2027. That pilot is a separate, previously reported agreement, rather than a newly completed deployment.
Agility’s commercial progress is attracting attention as it prepares for a proposed stock-market listing through Churchill Capital Corp XI. The merger is expected to close in the fourth quarter, subject to the necessary approvals. The company has not specified how many robots are covered by the $300 million order figure or what portion has been fulfilled. Orders tied to future milestones should not be confused with recognized revenue.
Pittsburgh will complement Agility’s RoboFab manufacturing center in Oregon and its hardware and Physical AI operations in Fremont, California. The new investment is directed toward the less visible work that follows a robot sale: deploying systems, keeping them operational and adapting their capabilities to customer sites.
